How to decorate your home with White and Blue

Posted on: October 11th, 2017

One of the most important aspects of your home’s décor is the color schemes you use. More than anything else, color can set the tone of your entire style. Popular color palettes are neutrals, monochromes, metallics, and pastels.

Colors Sofa

If you want your home to stand out from the rest, try the color combination of white and blue. You need not fear that your house will look like a winter wonderland. With these décor tips, your interior design will look both contemporary and timeless.

Florals

A common pattern in blue and white is florals. Florals are feminine, elegant, and classic. It is easy to decorate around them, as well, because both colors are neutrals (they match anything), and the pattern is not overwhelming. You can find white and blue floral patterns in curtains, furniture, and bedspreads. For a touch of vibrance, add pops of bright solids in other floral shades, such as bright red, sunny yellow, or sunset orange.

Ceramics

Another popular choice in blue and white is ceramics. They come in everything from Old World vintage to Chinese themes to eclectic designs, so there is something for every taste. Whether they are plates or vases or anything else, you can display them on any of the following places:

  • Dining tables
  • Hutches
  • Walls
  • Hallway tables
  • Hearths or mantles
  • Window sills
  • Bookcases and shelves
  • Nightstands and side tables

Shade

They don’t have to be on something. You can even place them straight on the floor next to furniture or put one oversized piece in a corner.

Hues of Blue

Do you like a bold style? Go with a rich shade of blue or a strong pattern in your décor to create a striking look. If you want less of a contrast between the two color palettes, choose pale hues of blue to create a light, airy look that resembles a cloudy morning sky. Can’t decide on which shade you like best? Try a monochromatic design with all your favorite tints of blue. You can also choose to use one color more than the other instead of a balance between the white and blue, or to use one color as the base and the other for accessories and accents.

Gilda Chair

The options for blue and white color schemes are as endless as your imagination. If you still aren’t sure how to make it work with these décor tips, select the style you want first: minimalist, modern, Victorian, contemporary, country, etc. Then choose pieces of that style in white and blue for easy yet unique interior design.
